Operational Excellence
Operational Excellence (OPEX) is the ability to ensure that the core processes in the value chain are constantly optimised for effectiveness and efficiency.
efficiency. Based on the corporate strategy, processes are designed taking into account technological, organisational and cultural conditions.
OPEX supports the continuous improvement process through the right composition of improvement methods. The focus is on the combination of quality improvement, customer focus, process management and speed as well as the ability to learn and change. The objective is to make the companies successful in competition. The focus is on the continuous optimisation of core processes. Robust and optimal processes simultaneously ensure increased productivity, cost reduction and quality improvement.
Through the interface to the KRIS database, it is possible to carry out statistical investigations. The goal is to determine whether a process meets the customer's specifications. To do this, it is necessary to specify a tolerance that defines the "margin" of a permissible deviation from the target value. The process capability index Cpk relates the tolerance to the scatter of the process. If the process capability is not achieved, either the scatter must be reduced or the tolerance limits must be extended. To do this, one must know the possible limits of a desired function above which there is an unacceptable loss of quality or even failure of a desired function.
