Side Note: Why ABB ACS880 Converters?
While Siemens is represented in many paper mills with SINAMICS converters and the PCS 7 control system, we would like to highlight a few advantages of ABB ACS880 converters at this point. ABB offers complete kits for installation in Rittal standard cabinets. The cabinets are designed so that all devices of a given size fit into the same cabinet – even a later replacement with a more powerful device is possible without any problems. Thanks to the variable width, old cabinets can be replaced 1:1 in the same location, which shortens the conversion time.
The large converters are mounted on casters for mobility and are connected via plug-in connections – installation time: 15 minutes. Smaller sizes are also guided by rails on the sides and do not simply fall out when replaced. DC switches and dU/dt filters are always housed in the same enclosure, and the self-explanatory control panel can be operated intuitively across generations. ABB converters do not necessarily require an ABB controller.
KRIKO has a solution with the KRIKO drive library based on S7, TIA, or PCS 7. We also couple our system with Damatic, ALSPA, or adapt existing controls to ACS880.
